In 1911, Eugene Blum and Alice Levy registered the Ebel watch brand with the Chamber of Commerce in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland.
Their first line of watches hit the marketplace in 1912.
Ebel won a gold medal at the Swiss National Exhibition for their ring watches with escapement and hidden time-setting movements.
This created a market for Ebel to produce complete timepieces to be branded under other watchmakers’ names.
Makers such as Vacheron 81‘ Constantin, Cartier and Paul Breguette were clients of Ebel.
The brand “Paul Breguette” was created by Ebel for the American market in around 1929.
Ebel is still in production today.
